Basic Technical Drafting

Basic Technical Drafting students learn AutoCAD, a drafting software by AutoDesk.  AutoCAD is for architects, designers, drafters, engineers, and project managers.  The course provides students with an understanding of the basic requirements when creating a set of 2D technical drawings and focuses on basic drawing and editing commands, basic dimensioning practices, & printing techniques, as well as a comprehensive introduction to drafting and drafting careers.  The course provides classroom instruction and practical experience to prepare students for employment or continued education in a variety of careers that utilize the AutoCAD program.

Programs like AutoCAD require specific certifications to operate because of their complex structure and the sensitive nature of the work the software does.  Gaining a certification in software or hardware can open up new job opportunities in the field of design & provides prospective employers with proof that you understand AutoCAD software and have extensive experience using it.  AutoCAD courses allow you to work directly with the software to gain technical skills necessary to work with it on a professional level.  Coursework is mostly direct software interaction, with some written material and reading to enhance the learning experience.
