2020-2021 Beta Hours!
Completing Beta volunteer hours will look a little different this year. Whenever you have the opportunity to help in the community, please follow these precautions:
- Make sure you have discussed the activity with your parents/guardians and they deem it safe for you.
- Wear a mask! (and any other PPE needed for the activity)
- Maintain appropriate social distancing
- Never put yourself in a situation that could negatively affect your health!
Remember these rules about what qualifies as Beta points:
- You are not paid
- You do not receive a grade
- It is not an activity you would normally be expected to perform (babysitting your sibling, cleaning your house, etc. won't not count)
Here are some ideas for socially-distanced service hours:
- Mowing a neighbor's lawn or other yard work🍂(get owner's permission first)
- Washing a neighbor's car🚗 or pet 🐩(get owner's permission first)
- Delivering groceries🛒 for someone who cannot go to the store (check with your parents and recipient first)
- Reading a story📚 to a child remotely (via Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, FaceTime, etc.)
- Tutoring someone remotely 👩🏫(via Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, FaceTime, etc.)
- Create an interactive sidewalk🤸♀️
- Donate items to charities 🎁(no more than 30 points per donation)
- Volunteering at an animal shelter🐕🐈
