Spanish and English Language Teacher
Mark Twain once said that there are two important days in a person's life; the day you are born, and the day you find out why. I was born to teach language. As a student, I was always captivated by language and other cultures. I studied extensively the Spanish and English languages in their contexts of linguistics, literature, culture, and second-language pedagogy, including time studying abroad at La Universidad de Murcia in Murcia, Spain. I've been a teacher since 2014, when I started my first position as an English teacher in Chachapoyas, Peru, located in the the magical cloud forests of the Andes mountains. I then returned to my home town of New Orleans, where most notably I built the English Language Learner program at Einstein Charter High School in New Orleans East, starting in the inaugural year of the school's reopening, and finishing with it's first graduating class four years later. In recognition of my accomplishments and contributions to the academic achievement and personal growth of my students, my fellow teachers bestowed upon me the honor of Teacher of the Year for the 2018-19 academic year. I am most excited to start teaching here at Belle Chasse High School, and I look forward to making many more outstanding relationships with the students and faculty of this fine school.
