English II

For the 2015 – 2016 school year, English II classes will be using SpringBoard English Language Arts Grade 10, a textbook produced by The College Board, a not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity.  The new 2014 edition of SpringBoard was built on current research on best instructional practices and pedagogy. SpringBoard helps all students achieve the following outcomes:

• Higher-order critical-thinking skills
• Precision in reading and writing
• Accurate analysis and evaluation
• Problem-solving skills
• Deeper conceptual understanding
• Expanded academic vocabulary

The four units taught in the fall semester are shown below:

• Unit 1: Cultural Conversations
• Unit 2: Cultural Perspectives
• Unit 3: Dramatic Justice
• Unit 4: Building Cultural Bridges
