Complete the reading of the packet distributed in class (from "Red Cranes" and from "The Firefly Hunt").  You must annotate pages 4 and 5 at least five times.  You must annotate page 6 three times.  Annotate page 10 five times and page 11 two times.  Then answer the questions by circling the correct answers.  On page 15, you MUST have a complete introduction written out.  You must also write two or three topic sentences (You may want to use a lot of the bulleted items as the basis for your topic sentences.).  
 
Last, please highlight the quotes that you plan to use.  
 
All of this is worth 50 points--so please do this work.  We will go over the answers in class tomorrow.   
 
Also, we will complete the next part of the Practice Test--it is much harder.  So, please be in class tomorrow.

For homework, you should look up an article from EBSCO (username:  ppsb; password: search) on Michael Fay's reaction to his punishment--after he was caned.  Print the article and annotate it for Wednesday.  If you cannot print the article, save it to Google Drive and write your comments in the margins.  You will be given time to explain his reaction as shown in the article.

If you were present on Friday, you should have turned your questions for A Doll's House into me if you were in 1st period.  If you were absent, you need to have one high-level, critical thinking question for Monday.  We will get into groups to discuss these, and then conduct a Socratic Seminar.  
 
2nd Period:  Your assignment for Friday was to write one high-level question on A Doll's House.  We will get into groups to discuss these questions on Monday, but they need to be written out so that we can discuss them.  Please try to answer your questions with page numbers noted. 
 
PLEASE remember to bring your novels to class tomorrow.  You will need them as a reference.  
 
Tuesday we will probably continue the Socratic Seminar, with a test on the novel on Wednesday.  If you have not finished the novel, please do so for Monday. 
 
As noted, we discussed the above in class on Friday, but a few of you were absent.

On the chart assigned in class, write the line numbers of the 4 quotes from "Two Kinds" and Kaffir Boy that you would use to answer the writing prompt:  Analyze how two characters interact and develop over the course of a text to explain how conflict is used to dance the theme.  
 
After you write the line numbers on the chart, highlight the actual quote in the two texts.

You have an unseen reading test tomorrow; it will also incorporate the phrases and revisions that we have covered in class.  Please be sure to bring your grammar worksheets to class with you on Friday.  (The worksheets on prepositional phrases, infinitive phrases, and participial phrases. )
