Good evening, everyone.

I hope you are going to get a good night's sleep in preparation for tomorrow's test in English II.  Please try to eat a good breakfast so you are able to concentrate on the test.

I also want to remind everyone that you were supposed to complete the Interim Form II in Google Classroom by this evening.  You were also supposed to write an introduction, 3 topic sentences with 2 quotes below each, and a complete conclusion for the writing prompt.  This is for a grade as those who have not finish now understand.  I am also trying to give comments on how you can improve on your theses and your conclusions.

I will be offering after-school tutoring for those of you who need to make up assignments or feel you need help with essays or two-part questions.  We can discuss Interim II--the writing prompt and the questions if you feel you are still struggling.

*************Please do not be tardy tomorrow.  If you arrive at school after students have begun taking the test, you will not be allowed into the room.  You will have to take the test another day during another class.**********

You need to go to your class's  Google Classroom.  Go to the new assignment with the Completed Questions for Ishmael.   You will notice that everyone will have access to the same document.  If everyone is on the document at the same time, it may cause some issues, so be careful where you type.  My suggestion is for you to go to a question that no one is answering.

You must type your name and then write at least one sentence-long answer for each question that you did not answer in class.  Then you may want to add a comment to one or more student's response by highlighting his or her comment, and then typing in the comment box that pops up.   The commenting is optional.

Do not forget to complete the Socratic Seminar Self-Reflection.  It should be complete and ready to turn in on Wednesday.

Class fees are due.  Please bring $9.00 fee as soon as possible.

First, you do not have a vocabulary quiz tomorrow.  We will put that off until Tuesday of next week.

Second, read and respond to "What Is Cultural Identity?" on pages 9-12.  You must thoroughly annotate this text--it is a complex text, so I would expect you to have words defined and many more than 4 annotations per page (Remember:  I want sentences as annotations.)  Answer the questions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9.  You must have at least two sentences for each question and a citation (Trumbull and Pacheco 9).

Then I want you to look at the research assignment you were assigned last night on "The Masque of the Red Death," and see if you need to make revisions.  I will not grade them until tomorrow so that you have time to make your corrections.

Complete the research worksheet on "Masque of the Red Death" in Google Classroom.  You MUST use one or more academic articles to explain the symbolic significance of EACH room.  You must have information from EBSCO or Google Scholar only. If you have to use more than one article, simply copy and paste the headings from the first article in Google Docs; thus, your assignment may be more than three or four pages.

When searching, try different words or phrases.  Suggested word phrases include the following:  Allegory and "The Masque of the Red Death;" symbolism of the color blue in literature (or whatever color on which you need information); Shakespeare's connection to "The Masque of the Red Death."

It must be completed before you come to class tomorrow.  It is worth 25 points.
