Mrs. Stephanie Andrews » Introduction

Introduction

My name is Stephanie Andrews and I am the English 1/English 1 Pre-AP teacher. I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan, about eighteen hours away from here. While growing up, I played volleyball, softball, and golf, while also serving in the National Junior Honor Society. When I graduated from Flint Central High School, I was awarded the "Scholar Athlete of the Year" award and I was given a scholarship to play both volleyball and softball.  I was also offered a position to coach the freshman volleyball team at my former high school and I have been coaching ever since! After receiving an Associates Degree, I transferred to the University of Michigan - Flint, where I majored in both English and Social Sciences and pursued a career in education. I began teaching 10th and 11th graders in Michigan, and eventually I met my husband while he was on recruiting duty.

After receiving orders, we moved to North Carolina, where we lived for ten years. During this time, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts at Hunters Creek Middle School, and was named "Teacher of the Year" in 2007-2008. In 2010, my family received orders, once again, and we moved here to Louisiana. For three years, I taught 7th and 8th grade ELA at Belle Chasse Academy, and in June of 2013, I transferred to Belle Chasse High School.  In July of 2013, I completed  my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and have been teaching English 1 for the past 9 years.

Aside from teaching, I coach the varsity volleyball team, am a mentor, and have 3 wonderful sons. I am very excited to work with all of you, and I look forward to a great year!
