About Me:
My name is Courtney Goens. The 2021-2022 school year will be my 9th year teaching at Belle Chasse High School. It will be my 15th year teaching. Currently, I teach Algebra 2 and Psychology. Previously I have taught Algebra 2 Honors, Math Essentials and Business Math. I graduated high school from Mount Carmel Academy. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana State University. I majored in Psychology and Criminology. I received my Masters in Counseling from LSU as well.
You are probably wondering how I ended up being a math teacher with a Psychology background. Well, I went back to school and received my teaching certification in math from Holy Cross College. I loved being in the counseling field but I love teaching more. I don't just teach at BCHS though. I am also an ACT certified teacher. I teach the ACT math intensive prep program. I run Reading with the Champs, the ACT Gold Club and help with Mu Alpha Theta (math honors society). I am looking forward to a great year!
